Uranus, the Sky God, after repeated and not unenthusiastic attempts, finally impregnates Gaia. For reasons not entirely clear, he comes to hate the resulting offspring, and responds by imprisoning some of said children in the nether regions of the Earth, which causes Gaia extreme pain in her nether regions. She sensibly responds by fashioning a giant sickle out of flint and asking her sons to castrate their father. Young Cronus enthusiastically takes up the charge, castrating Uranus and tossing the sky god’s manhood into the sea (Memo to Poseidon: Watch Out). Uranus sensibly responds by returning to the sky and staying put. Lesson learned: Gaia is not benign.
